The core idea
Metabolism refers broadly to the chemical processes that sustain life. Consumer discussions often use the word as shorthand for energy expenditure, but marketing language can flatten a complex system into a single “boost” narrative.
A better way to evaluate the question
- Define the claim. Identify the actual outcome being promised or implied.
- Match the evidence. Ask whether research studied the same ingredient or product, dose, population, and outcome.
- Check the total picture. Look for conflicting findings, safety limitations, and whether results have been replicated.
- Keep mechanisms in proportion. A biological mechanism is not automatically evidence of a meaningful real-world result.
