The core idea
A proprietary blend may disclose a total blend amount while not giving every individual ingredient amount. That can make it harder for a consumer to compare a formula with research that used specific doses.
A better way to evaluate the question
- Define the claim. Identify the actual outcome being promised or implied.
- Match the evidence. Ask whether research studied the same ingredient or product, dose, population, and outcome.
- Check the total picture. Look for conflicting findings, safety limitations, and whether results have been replicated.
- Keep mechanisms in proportion. A biological mechanism is not automatically evidence of a meaningful real-world result.
